This tragic queen was captive at Tutbury Castle on four occasions and was Lesley ‘s First character.
Mary’s life was both glory and horror ending in her execution by the axe on 8th February 1587 following almost 19 years of captivity by order of her cousin Queen Elizabeth 1st. Mary Stuart was queen of France and Scotland with many believing she was also rightful queen of England refusing to accept Anne Boleyn as legitimate wife of King Henry VIII. Mary was also beautiful, artistic and highly educated but some of her choices contributed to her desperate end.
