The Vikings are coming!
Easter Sunday 1
Easter Monday 2 April 2018
11.00 am – 5pm (last admissions 4pm)
There is much excitement here at the castle as the build up is underway for the great Easter opening, when a crowd of Vikings will surge into the castle and set up camp to thrill everyone – and scare a few too.
As the real Vikings came in their dragon ships up the river Trent and the river Dove past the castle mound, it is quite a thought in the middle of all the fun that they really did come to this immediate area and raided a convent at nearby Hanbury before moving forward to Repton which was a major Viking site.
If you would like to meet the Vikings of Svartland Living History Society, do come and join us for our Easter Bank Holiday celebrations on Sunday & Monday, 1-2 April. Lots to do and see.
Viking Camp with demonstrations of authentic crafts, skills and pastimes. Viking combat displays. History Tours, Birds of Prey, Fairground, Easter Egg Hunt,
