January’s Letter from the Curator (2018)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

All of us are busy re-decorating and spring cleaning.

Our beautiful tea room is just begging for you to come and see it.  A new coat of paint, tablecloths and painted furniture. Wow what a difference!  Not long for you to wait now.  Easter is nearly here and we will be opening up our doors for another exciting year.

Also here for 2018 is our newborn website.  I think you will all agree it is a lot more user friendly!  We have had hundreds of viewings already not to mention the enquiries that this brings with it.

Here is a list of some of the things you have to look forward to this year:-

Easter Sunday 1st April and Monday 2nd April The Vikings are coming. Come dressed as a Viking and join in the fun. Keep a look out on our website for details.
14th and 15 April Jacobites will be camping out once again – normal entry fees apply.
6th and 7th May Normannis is a combat re-enactment group and prides itself as a society, bringing history to life in a historically accurate, engaging and exciting way. Come and be part of that history at Tutbury Castle.
27th and 28th May 1940’s weekend. Like taking a trip back through time – you won’t want to miss being a part of this nostalgic weekend.
25th/26th/27th August The princesses are back! Fairytale weekend brings back the magic to hundreds of children’s hearts.
3rd and 4th November Vikings and Fireworks – such a great success last year, probably our best ever! Be sure to buy your tickets early. Some people were still very disappointed at not being able to get tickets. Book you tickets in advance – we never have tickets left on the day!!!

Keep viewing our website for details and tickets on all the above and more events throughout the year.

I would like to say how much we are looking forward to welcoming to the castle all the couples who are marrying with us in 2018 and those who are just enquiring at the moment having had romantic Christmas and New Year proposals.

Whatever your celebration – always consider the castle first as a great, not to mention, different alternative venue for your event.

Kind regards

Lesley Smith
