Cream Tea and Talk with Peggy Knight
Thursday 30th September 2021
2pm arrival for a 2:30pm start
Tickets – £17.50pp
Come and join Tutbury Castle for a fantastic Cream Tea, and a captivating talk with Peggy Knight!
In 1944, a young woman who had previously been a shorthand typist at the electricity board in North London, was parachuted into Nazi occupied France. She was a member of SOE (The Special Operations Executive) and had only received two weeks training, and one practice parachute jump.
Her story of immense courage and dignity in the face of the most dangerous of situations is both breath-taking and remarkable, as she was recorded moving straight through the middle of enemy lines on her bicycle.
Peggy’s story is little known but now is the time to find her. An ordinary woman who you would pass in the street without a second glance, but she was extraordinary, as you will discover.
The talk will take place in the great hall at 2.30pm prompt. We ask that phones are switched off during the performance and that no photos are taken. After the performance, there will be a chance to ask questions and photo opportunities. Following the talk, the Cream Tea will be served in the pretty tearoom.
We ask that guests arrive no earlier than 2pm, as you will not be able to access The Castle before this time.
Tickets are £17.50pp and must be bought in advance.
The cream tea will include:
Two fresh fruit scones
Selection of Jams
A choice of Tea or Coffee.
