Giving Birth to The Tudors & Buffet
Thursday 19th August 2021
7:00pm arrival for a 7:30pm start.
£25.00 per person.
The thought of giving birth without all the drugs and surgical knowledge on offer in modern medicine in Europe is a daunting one for the mother and anyone witnessing the drama of it all.
Now imagine it is 1580 and what do you think might happen? Well, there is a good chance a living baby would be born, but the superstitions alongside the formal medical beliefs of the day would be ever-present during the pregnancy and at the birth itself.
This fascinating talk by curator Lesley Smith will be incredible as it might sound, creating an evening of laughter.
Begin the evening with a fabulous buffet in the Great Hall. Please see the attached buffet menu. Please do contact the castle office if you have any dietary requirements as, without prior notice we will not be able to cater for you on the day.
On arrival, please drive all the way round to the main castle building and you will be greeted at the Tearoom. The buffet will be served before the performance in the Great Hall. After the buffet, dessert options will be available followed by tea and coffee in the pretty tearoom. Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before the arrival time as you will not have access to the building.
This talk is not suitable for under 18s and tickets are non-refundable.
