This talk is given by the castle curator Lesley Smith, she speaks in the year 1399 as the Duchess of Lancaster in a spectacular costume of the period. The story of Katherine and John of Gaunt is one of the greatest love affairs recorded in English history. Their descendants would go on to be every monarch of Scotland and England up to the current day and including her Majesty, The Queen. Travel back in time and see in your imagination the knights in shining armour and flags flying in this medieval green and pleasant land.
